About Liv & Learn

Hello! My name is Liv, owner and founder of Liv & Learn. I created Liv & Learn with the aim of providing accessible and approachable behavioural advice for cats and dogs.
My journey began with the arrival of Murphy, my labradoodle, and the overwhelming abundance of information on raising and caring for a pup. We encountered lots of issues from separation anxiety to car phobia. This led to me researching as much as possible to find evidence-based solutions, which in turn sparked my passion for behaviour and the need to promote ethical training.
As a lifelong animal lover, I spent my teenage years volunteering in animal shelters and working in catteries/kennels. After completing my degree in Animal Biology in 2019, I established Happy Tails, a successful dog walking business. Since then, I have expanded my expertise by working for a variety of animal care businesses including: day care, pet sitting, animal shelters, walking and training. This hands-on experience has not only provided valuable insights into managing diverse personalities but has also allowed me to offer behavioural guidance to clients. Recognising the importance of integrating behavioural considerations into the dog walking and day care industry, I am dedicated to sharing my knowledge and experience to enhance the well-being of the dogs involved.
Throughout my journey in the dog industry, I personally experienced the judgment and embarrassment associated with my dogs' behavioural challenges, both in public and professional settings. Understanding the complexity of dogs, their genetic predispositions and varied learning styles, I believe it's unfair to pass judgment or blame on owners. Hence, Liv & Learn is committed to providing judgment-free consultations in order to create tailored, and adaptable treatment plans. This ensures that pets learn and develop in a way that suits both them and their owners.
I hold a masters in Clinical Animal Behaviour am pre-certified with the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC). Allowing me to bring the most current research and ethical practices to my services! Read my blog to hear more about my experiences and research.
Whatever your budget, history or behaviour problems, please get in touch to see how I can help. I am looking forward to meeting you and your wonderful pets.
